This ad is very common on job boards. It states that you can make hundreds of dollars a week doing data entry with no experience necessary. They tell you that you can even start immediately right from your home computer.

You pay a small registration fee to join. The instruction kit turns out to be a list of businesses that hire data entry people. You must apply to these businesses in order to get work. Most of them have never heard of the company that took your money. Very few, if any, are actually hiring data entry people.

Some companies will tell you that for an additional fee, they will upgrade you to the "premium" package. This will get you a larger list of data entry businesses. If you don't upgrade, they will tell you that you do not qualify for the businesses on the regular list.

One popular scam is the "pass off" scam. You send off the registration fee for the information packet. The packet will contain the same ad that you just responded to. You are instructed to take that ad and place it in newspapers and on job boards.  This is your data entry. Your payment is from the poor suckers that you have passed this on to.
